Australian singer and performer Kylie Minogue joined the celebrities chipping in for a good cause at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 22).

Asked about her acting ambitions, Minogue told Reuters: "I definitely wouldn't mind going back to my roots", referring to her TV role in the 80s Aussie soap "Neighbours" that shot her to early stardom.

Currently, Minogue is touring and playing constantly while also trying to further her acting career. Asked how she managed to fit it all in, the singer said "Where there is a will, there's a way."

The charity Minogue is raising her voice for is called Miracle Africa and is trying to raise awareness for the battle against Malaria in third world countries. Friday night's event was not a fundraiser though- co-sponsored by Chopard the party was all about getting the word out about "Miracle Africa".

Dolce & Gabbana meanwhile celebrated all things glamourous to end the Cannes Film Festival with decadence and style.

Friday night's event was customized by the designers themselves with this year's theme "Fabulous in Cannes", to which the designers said it was a state of mind everyone aspired to.

"It's a style of life. It's a dream, it's a moment. All the people dream in their life to be fabulous. Maybe for yourself, maybe for your life, maybe for your children. All the people dream fabulous," the designers told Reuters Television.

Their annual party was notably toned down this year with only 400 guests invited this year. Nonetheless, the designers created a heady and hedonistic atmosphere with glitter, mirrors, personalized martinis, dazzling pyrotechnics, as well as a surprise live performance by Gloria Gaynor while renowned DJ Coleman kept the crowd dancing till dawn.

Among the celebrity guests attending were supermodels Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova, Dita Von Teese, Kerry Washington, and Jesse Metcalf.

D&G model David Gandy who was discovered on British television programme "Richard & Judy" following a male model search is now amongst the top in his profession.

"I've just been very lucky really. That's how I feel about it really. You don't have to bring much to the modelling world just blessed with luckier looks. I suppose I can thank mom and dad for that and yeah just very lucky," he said.

Gandy shot to fame with the famous D&G television ad where he's wearing white swimming trunks and kissing a woman passionately on a raft in the Mediterranean.
